What Quarantine Looks Like at My House...

Yep we are still here, still under temporary rules to stay home to stop the spread of COVID 19. But now with no end in sight. The schools shifted to provide remote learning and issued iPads and chrome books for the kids to log on to try and continue their learning. Kate and Zach seemed to do okay with this mew form of school, but poor Ryan and Preston struggled to stay engaged. I don’t blame them as it most definitely was nothing like in person instruction. With school not being as long we had lots of free time on our hands. We decided it was time to break out from our neighborhood and started taking bigger and longer walks. One of these walks was down on the waterfront in Portland to see the cherry blossoms. Kate made lots of dance videos and started doing home workouts to keep herself moving. She also tried her hand at cooking and made homemade pizza! Justin grew out his facial hair as well as the hair on top of his head. We all tried new things. Quarantining was starting to give us cabin fever though.

Lunches for the Homeless...000

Our neighbor behind us is the director of The Blachet House, who provides 3 meals a day, 365 days a year. COVID shut down their ability to provide these meals for the homeless in Portland, and they asked people to volunteer to make sack lunches. I felt motivated to help and signed up to make 25 lunches. The kids got involved too!

Covid Easter...

Well two weeks turned into one month and we still are being told to stay in our homes. COVID 19 is raging war and infections are still rising. Major cities like New York are seeing the effects at much larger rates than cities like Portland, but the entire nation is still staying home and everything continues to stay closed. We celebrated Easter at home. For the first time ever we didn’t go to church because it is still cancelled and we traded in our Sunday best for our casual best.  We still had an Easter egg hunt for the kids and spent a gorgeous day at home. I tried to make it special by making a cake but we missed being able to gather with our family.
