Elite 2020-2021 Dance Pics

This is an interesting start to the year. We should all be grateful its even happening I suppose. Competition will look very different this year. Masks for 1, no chance of any combined number for 2, and 3 the chance that things will get cancelled at any time, due to anyone who comes in contact with Covid, are probably pretty likely. But these girls, this team and this company of competitive dancers is pressing forward. Dance is Kate's life so I am glad she is able to do what she loves even with all the unknowns surrounding this year.

First Day of School...COVID STYLE

One in Pre-K, one in Elementary, one in Middle School and one in High School. One out of the 4 in person, and the other 3 all online! What a disastrous start to a school year. Thankfully Preston is able to go to school in person. He has to wear a mask of course, but to be able to get him out and moving for a few hours three days out of the week is a gift. We carpool with his friend Robel to make going to school run a little more smoothly. Everything is better with friends.

As for the other 3, they started school online via Zoom. My heart aches for them. This is no way to learn and I pray it doesn't last long. Ryan zooms and logs on from my office so I can keep watch on him. His attention span isn't very long and with easy access to YouTube, the temptation for him to get off task is too easy. This is brutal to start 2nd grade online. We got Kate a desk to make school a little more comfortable and peaceful for her. She seems to be doing okay and is learning the best she can. Luckily she had a little over 6 months in Middle School before COVID hit, so she is used to the schedule. Zach is feeling lucky being able to wear jammies every day for school. I am dying inside for him because I think of how fun high school was for me and fear how much this lack of connection will have on him socially. No fall soccer, no friday night football games, etc. This is BRUTAL!

Sunriver

A weekend spent in Sunriver to close out the summer is always a good idea. First thing on our list is to rent our bikes. The two little boys rode tandem behind Justin and I so we could keep up our tradition of long bike rides in the morning. We normally hit the SHARC in the afternoon but we rented through Sunriver Resort this time around, and had special access to the Cove Pool. Thankfully we didn't have to wear masks and we were able to get a reservation with no problem. What a fun pool! The kids had a blast on the slide. Andy, Mari, Kyle and Heath also joined us this year. We met up with some of their friends, who were staying in Caldera Springs, and drove down to LaPine to raft down a different section of the Deschutes River. There is nothing more peaceful than floating the river. Central Oregon really is a small piece of Heaven.
