Ah, Palm Springs, CA...our new happy place! We escaped cold rainy Oregon to spend a week in the sun. All the kids need is a pool to make any spring break a success, but we did manage to do a few new things to keep this spring break different than the last. For starters, Aunt Heather and Uncle Steve booked the same trip for their family and joined us at the Marriott. It's always fun to have someone to play with and our kids had fun showing them all of their favorite things around the resort like the arcade, movie theater, pools, pancake breakfast, etc. We liked taking them to our favorite eats...Great Shakes and Sherman's Deli too!
There was so much rainfall this year in California that the poppies were out in full bloom which apparently doesn't happen every year, so it felt like a treat every morning on my walk around the resort. We ventured into Indian Canyon to go on a kid friendly hike, and stumbled on a waterfall that we dared Zach to get into. We also drove up through the Joshua Tree National Forest and drove on one of the most amazing scenic drives to get to Pioneertown, where we ate at Pappy and Harriets. And the day we checked out of our condo we decided to go to The Living Desert zoo. It was so fun to see animals that we don't normally see here in Portland.
We left feeling rested and recharged to get back to the grind but we love Palm Springs and always enjoy our time in California. For only two hours in a plane it certainly feels like we have traveled far with the amazing warm temps and palm tree scenery.
