Construction Site...

With three new developments happening around our neighborhood currently this boy is in HEAVEN!  Excavators, Bull Dozers and Dump Trucks...Oh My! Not a day or weekend goes by without Ryan playing with his trucks, or asking to go on a walk to see the construction site. He is 100% all boy!

Kaleidoscope and Best of the Billboards...

Another Recital is in the books!  Kate was in a lot of dances this year because of her participation on the Performing Co. and she handled it all pretty well.  There might have been one slight melt down, but when you're 8, and you spend a week rehearsing and end it with a weekend full of 5 shows, its bound to take a toll emotionally and physically.

She had a busy year with lots of performance opportunities and made lots of friends with the girls on her team, especially with Claire. They were the only two 2nd graders on their team and bonded instantly. I am glad they have each other.

One of these days I hope I get the chance to watch a recital performance from the perspective of an audience member, but I am glad to have so much family come and support where I can't. One of the biggest surprises was her cousins Maddi and Lauren being able to come and watch(thanks to Aunt Mari for flying them out for Halle's 16th birthday). It meant so much to Kate to have the love and support she has from Grandma, Aunt Heather, her cousin Brooke, Mari and Halle and of course her dad and brothers. What a great year!

Last Day of 2nd and 5th Grade...

Another school year has come and gone, but this one is a little different because Zach will be heading to Cedar Park Middle School next year.  He is lucky to have such a support of kids his own age from our neighborhood.  It is so hard to believe they will not be walking with our younger ones next year! I am sure they are so excited though.

The Gatchells in keeping with tradition supplied all the neighborhood kids with VooDoo Donuts. These kids are so lucky to have each other, and its at this time of year that I feel fortunate to have such wonderful nieghbors and playmates for my kids, and within arms reach, literally!
So for Kate, so long 2nd grade and for Zach see ya 5th grade and hello middle school!

And I just had to do a comparison for Zzch from his first day of Kindergarten at Skyline Elementary to his last day at Bonny Slope Elementary. The kids are growing up!

5th Grade Festivities...

As part of Zach's exit from elementary school he was required to do a huge research assignment called 5th Grade Exhibition. The topic he chose was anti bullying. He and his group presented and I was so proud of him. I might be biased but I sure do think he will be successful in anything he chooses to do.

Next up on the agenda was the 5th Grade Party! The theme was "Your Future is Bright".  The parents who volunteered their time and energy made this party a success! From catered hawaiian food and snow cones to cool shades and relay races, the kids definitely had a great time.

And lastly was the 5th grade talent show.  I am glad Zach and his buddies decided to audition. They performed a variety of songs from PBS kids and their favorite childhood cartoons. I admit I was a little worried at what the kids reaction to their skit would be, but they pulled it off and had kids laughing and clapping for them.

I think Zach is ready to move on to Middle School!
