Westside Timbers...

To say Zach eat sleeps and dreams soccer is quite an understatement.  About two years ago Zach joined the Westside Timbers Soccer Club. It is a huge commitment as it is a year round program.  If what I have been told is true, I foresee lots of tournaments both local and long distance in our future.

He tryed out, as they have the boys do each year, and Zach made the Boys U9 A team.  Romeo Salazar is his coach and he has been loving this team.  This year has been really fun to watch because you can tell the boys are really catching on to how the game is played.  All summer they played in several tournaments.   They placed second in a lot of them but won first place in two of them, the Cascade Challenge and the Beaverton Cup.  It was nice to have Grandma and Grandpa Marostica in town to watch Zach play in the Beaverton Cup.  There is nothing like re-living the soccer mom days with Grandma.  I think she is Zach biggest fan.  We are too, but she has us all beat!

Easter and the hunt...

Toddlers and dying Easter eggs is not my favorite mix to be honest but you can't not let them have a try at it. So as much as I allowed Ryan to try, we successfully dyed a dozen eggs and managed to only tip over one of the dying cups. I left a lot of the dying up to Kate this year.  She was the pro!

On the actual day of Easter Kate came running into our room at 4:30am telling me that Zach was puking!  Great!  Our great plans to go to church as a family to celebrate the real meaning of the day suddenly took a turn.  He was feeling a little better by the end of the day so we quaranteened him at Grandma's house for dinner, and let him out for a bit to do the Easter egg hunt.  In a few years he will be too old, isn't that crazy to think about?

Halle helped Ryan find some eggs for himself.  Once he discovered there was candy inside he was good to go. After Easter was over I knew that if I didn't hear him for awhile, I could always find him in Kate's room helping himself to Kate's Candy stache.

Easter is always a great Holiday as long as the sun comes out, and this year it did!

Spring Breaking in Kauai...

When our good friends, the McCauleys, mentioned that they were going to Kauai for spring break and said we should come, it took all of about two minutes for us to decide we were in! It was the perfect family vacation.  The resort we stayed at was amazing!  It spanned the entire north side of the Kalapaki beach.  The pools and the hot tubs entertained the kids day after day, and just a few steps beyond the pool was the ocean.  Everything we needed from a market to snow cones to good eats was within walking distance.  The food at the resort was really yummy too, espeically their breakfast buffets.  Ryan was the best baby!  He loved the water, especially the hot tubs...in and out, in and out, and took amazing afternoon naps, just long enough to give Justin and I the rest we needed from our every day grind.  Vacation is always great when you go with great friends.  The kids kept one another busy with water games and discovering kauai's unique creatures.  A few of the nights we adults were able to sneak away for some dinner and Duke's famous hula pie.  We really should have taken more pictures!  Oh well, I guess we will just have to go back!
