The month of April always seems to last the longest out of the whole year! I think the constant change of weather from hot to cold, from sunshine to rain, makes me feel so confused physically. The sun rises earlier but my body still wants to stay in my warm bed, and outdoor sports return which can either be great when the sun is out or absolutely brutal when the rain is pouring. But when someone, who will remain nameless, feels your soft tummy, where you have carried three children, and squeezes it, your heart kind of sinks for a moment. This is where I attempt to make a choice.
So being honest with myself, I fit into all my clothes, (which is great) eat what I want when I want for the most part, and I have a really hard time trying to change that up. I have tried and by about lunch time I give in. I like food. And who knows maybe this soft stomach will never go away. Maybe its just the result of being a mom, which I think I could be okay about. I have thought about it and the only thing that I am doing differently is not going to a dance class that I used to go to once a week. Once! I will go back but not until Ryan is a little older. Me dancing with a toddler wrapped around my leg does not sound fun. But I have decided to try something new, and embrace the crazy April weather and start walking. Cross your fingers that doing a little extra will help my soft stuff shrink. And if in the end it doesn't, oh well, at least it got me some fresh air. My sister Heather walks almost every night around her neighborhood and I still remember my mom walking with her friends when I was little, leg weights and all. It might just turn into a new hobby. As if I need more.
So I told Kate to grab her helmet for a long bike ride, strapped Ryan in the stroller, and off we went. Kate of course loved it, and is now requesting to go on more bike rides and Ryan loves to be outside, so it feels like a win win situation. We took a little detour to the dance studio to watch the company girls rehearse too. And the weather held out...Cold, but at least it didn't rain.
On another note Ryan is getting busy! Really busy! I can't leave him alone for a minute or else he is up on top of the table, climbing into drawers, running down the street or getting into the kids' Easter candy, just to name a few. Nothing naughty just testing the waters I guess. He is really starting to get some personality, blowing kisses, giving high fives and screaming to commnicate for things he wants or is done with. He really is a super pleasant kid though most of the time, just busy!
